Patty Costa

Teacher: Grades 3 – 5

Hello! My name is Patricia (Patty) Schmidt Costa and I am currently a teacher at Oakwood Jr. Academy in Taylor, Michigan. When my mother taught 4th grade she was also expecting me. So, I can say that I was practically born in a classroom and always feel happy and at home when I am at school.

My family moved from Argentina to the United States when I was a toddler. I had an amazing Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Linda Lesh, who was able to communicate with me even when I didn’t speak English. Thanks to her great teaching skills, soon I was as fluent as the rest of the students even being able to learn how to read and write.

Working for the Adventist education system is an honor. Every day is a blessing and I continually thank God for the exciting opportunity to work with excellent colleagues and wonderful students.

I really like spending time with my husband Ronald and my two daughters Cinthia and Nadia whether we are at home, at church, or on a trip. Reading, writing, and playing the piano are some other activities I really enjoy.

My education consists of an AA in Elementary Education from Universidad Adventista del Plata, B.A. from Caribbean University, and a Master in Education from Andrews University. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Education.
